Off to the Races Raises over $68,000!

Off to the Races Raises $68,462 for Berkley Schools

The Berkley Education Foundation hosted its 11th annual Off to the Races simulated horse racing fundraiser, on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Club Venetian in Madison Heights.

Thanks to supporters, donors, sponsors, auction bidders, Platinum and Golden Ticket purchasers, and horse owners, the Berkley Education Foundation raised $68,462! This is a fantastic number - the biggest to date - and will fund many BEF giving initiatives, supporting enriching experiences for all Berkley Schools students.

Guests enjoyed a silent auction powered by mobile bidding, 11 horse races, hors d’oeuvres and two Power Lounge performances. The event also included a special 12th race, when the BEF gave away a $2,500 vacation to one lucky winner (congratulations, Kim)! The Foundation also gave away the same vacation to one lucky staff member in the staff-only raffle (congratulations, Barb)! The room was full of energy as over 280 guests cheered on their horses.

All the money raised will fund innovative ideas and projects in the Berkley School District, like staff mini-grants, 8th grade college tours, elementary enrichment programs and the Maxfield Science Symposium scholarships for BHS students.

The BEF would like to thank all who funded the #BerkleyDifference by contributing to the BEF through Off to the Races.
