On Thursday, February 26, 2026, Berkley Communications visited the Berkley Education Foundation (BEF) sponsored Poetry Club at Rogers to gain some insight into the club and the creative activities they have been working on.

The Poetry Club is run by Rogers teacher Stacey Bronoel and paraeducator Christine Gale and currently has 14 members in 3rd through 5th grades. Students have been exploring a variety of literary devices, including personification and repetition, as well as several forms of poetry such as list poems, haiku, concrete poems and blackout poems.

Each session is structured by first sharing examples of poems with students, then giving them time to write and share their own work with the group.

The club has some exciting events planned. In April, students will participate in a poetry night where they will read their poems to their families. The club also hopes to put together a book featuring the students' original poems.

The Berkley Education Foundation funds enrichment courses free of charge to elementary and middle school students to bring unique experiences to students and to enhance their learning.
